H1N1 Fears Postpone World Aquaculture Conference

Biosecurity Politics +1 more

MEXICO - Due to the progression of events related to the recent flu outbreak in Mexico, the World Aquaculture Society in consultation with the partners and sponsors of WA2009 has decided to postpone the World Aquaculture 2009 conference.

After avoiding other major aquaculture gatherings and major holidays while coordinating with hotel and convention center availability, a new date was set for WA2009 for September 25-29, 2009. The schedule will be the same as it was for the May dates - see the schedule.

Organisers of the conference say that they will contact registered participants and exhibitors soon concerning how to proceed. "Rest assured that all abstract submissions, registrations, payments and assignments will be carried over to the new dates with appropriate time for changes/cancellations", the said.

Given this H1N1 flu event, most major US airlines are allowing for reduced or waived ticket rescheduling fees for travel to Mexico scheduled during the month of May.
