Print This Page Future Looks Tasty for Norwegian Salmon Farmers
NORWAY - While the majority of Norwegian industries is battling turbulent times as a result of the global financial crisis, the Norwegian salmon farmers are reporting better results than ever.
“Norway will remain a superpower within the salmon industry for years to come”, says senior analyst of Nordea Markets, Kolbjoern Giskeoedegaard to NRK.
According to Rolleiv Solholm of Norway Post, last year's export of salmon and trout was valued at NOK 20 billion, the highest ever.
The Norwegian production for this year looks to increase by 15 per cent, while the total production in the rest of the world is on a decline, says the news organisation.
Prices are record high, and have increased by 30 per cent over the past year, and will remain high over the near future.
