Catfish Feed Deliveries
April 2009 Catfish Feed Deliveries Down 16 Per Cent from Last Year
Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 31,621 tonnes, down 17 per cent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 1,116 tonnes, up 13 per cent from the corresponding month a year ago.
April feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 12,628 tonnes, down 31 per cent from last year. Mississippi accounted for 40 per cent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to U.S. farmers.
The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in April and their comparison to the previous year were Alabama with 10,891 tonnes, up 15 per cent; Arkansas with 3,922 tonnes, down 18 per cent; and Louisiana with 1,312 tonnes, down 14 per cent.
