Canadian Shrimp Processors Close to Poor Demand

The Association of Seafood Producers, representing plants producing coldwater shrimp in Newfoundland and Labrador, called it an "unprecedented situation."

In an article in Seafood.com news, members of the association said they won't start producing shrimp again until the overall economic situation improves. They blamed an unfavourable currency exchange and market factors, as well as high raw material prices. They've formally told their European customers that they are not producing shrimp.
