A vacancy has arisen for a full time Assistant Farm Manager at Selcoth Fisheries Ltd in Dumfriesshire.
We are a well-established independent rainbow trout farm on the Moffat Water with a hatchery and two fingerlings/ re-stocking sites. The farm is set in 150 acres of the unspoilt Moffat valley and is run as a modern, professional and forward-thinking small business. You would be responsible for a range of activities including, • fish husbandry & routines • fish grading and moving • alarm call-outs and emergency procedures • site maintenance & improvements. There are opportunities to vary the role with involvement in other farm activities including sheep & cattle management, game keeping and forestry management. You would be reporting to and working closely with the Farm Manager and would be expected to be personable and communicative with a strong sense of reliability and self-motivation. Common sense and adaptability are also important characteristics. Previous experience/ exposure to aquaculture and a full driving licence are desired. The ideal candidate will additionally be FLT & quad bike qualified with previous experience in rainbow trout husbandry and basic site maintenance.
