Welcome to this week's newsletter
Editorial: Alex Mühlhölzl's Insights of the IATTC 7th Annual Workshop
Over the course of this week, Alex Mühlhölzl, the technical expert behind Oceanic Tuna Limited, has been in daily correspondence with TheFishSite from Achotines Bay, Panama, where he is sharing his experiences of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission 7th Annual Workshop.
The workshop is taking place at the Achotines Laboratory, one of the few research facilities in the world designed specifically for studies of the early life history of tropical tunas. Since his arrival, Mr Mühlhölzl has witnessed 9 spawning broodstock, in captivity, producing millions of fertilised eggs a day, a feat that has barely been replicated a single time outside of Achotines Bay.
He has also shared his first-hand experiences of the tuna development stages at Achotines Bay and participated in a wide range of groundbreaking scientific tuna experiments that will pave the way for future tuna farming success.
Keep an eye out for more tuna information to come over the course of the next week, which will be posted on our IATTC Workshop tuna focus page. You can view this page right now by clicking here.
