US - Wegmans Food Markets and Environmental Defense have announced a purchasing policy for farmed shrimp. According to the retailer, it sets a new bar for the seafood industry and other US retailers.

ISU awarded grant to develop in-feed vaccine
US - Researchers at Idaho State University (ISU) have received a $550,000 grant to develop a food pellet vaccine for hatchery rainbow trout. If successful, the breakthrough could lead to new ways to treat and protect livestock and human health.

Computerised livestock management aids business efficiency
US - Lawson Software has expanded its partnership with Norwegian IT specialist Mercatus to use IT to manage livestock and fish. A new system is also planned for launch in the US, South American and Pacific rim.
