February 2012 Catfish Feed Deliveries Up 53 Per cent
Total catfish feed delivered in the United States during February 2012 was 7,612 tons, up 53 percent from February 2011,
and up 30 percent from the previous month.
Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 7,298 tons, up 58 percent from the
corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 314 tons, down 4 percent from the
corresponding month a year ago.
February feed delivered to Alabama catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 3,142 tons, up 91 percent from last year.
Alabama accounted for 43 percent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to United States farmers.
The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in February and their comparison to the previous year
were Arkansas with 485 tons, up 5 percent; Louisiana with 30 tons, down 64 percent; and Mississippi with 2,246 tons, up
54 percent.
